hako.to is a small box of free single-purpose web tools. We respect your privacy and collect as little data as possible. The short version: most of what you do happens entirely in your browser — we don't have a server-side profile of you.
There is no account system on hako.to. We do not ask for an email, name, or any identifying information. You do not sign in. We do not maintain a server-side record of which user did what.
Each tool stores small pieces of state in your own browser's localStorage so that the tool remembers your settings, your high score, your preferences, or your progress between visits. Examples:
This data never leaves your device and is never uploaded to a server. You can clear it at any time by clearing your browser's site data for hako.to.
Some pages on hako.to display advertisements served by Google AdSense to help cover hosting costs. In regions where it applies (the EEA, UK, Switzerland), Google's consent management platform (Funding Choices) will ask whether you consent to personalised ads before any tracking cookies are set. If you decline, you will see non-personalised ads instead. You can change your choice at any time using the "Manage ad choices" link in the footer of any tool's index page.
You can also opt out of personalised advertising globally by visiting Google Ads Settings. For more information about how Google uses data when you visit sites that use AdSense, see How Google uses information from sites that use our services.
We do not currently use any third-party web analytics on hako.to (no Google Analytics, Plausible, etc.). The web server keeps standard access logs (URL, timestamp, IP address, user agent) for operational purposes such as detecting and blocking abuse. These logs are not used for advertising profiling and are not shared with third parties beyond the advertising integration described above.
We do not set first-party tracking cookies. The only cookies that may be set are those set by Google AdSense and its consent layer, and only with the consent rules described above. A short-lived session cookie may be used for in-browser bot-detection by the web server (Caddy); it carries no personal data.
hako.to is not directed at children under 13. Several of the tools (kana, lele, breathe, week) may be useful to younger users for learning purposes, but no account or personal data is collected from anyone of any age.
Because we do not collect personally identifying information and do not maintain a user profile, there is generally nothing to access, correct, or delete on our side beyond what your own browser stores locally (and which you can clear yourself).
For data Google holds as a result of serving ads on hako.to, please use Google's own data and privacy controls at myaccount.google.com.
